ABOUT
Variations are solo dances from classical ballets. Some are relatively modern, plucked from ballets of the last century, while others have been recreated from notes and illustrations of ballets nearly 200 years old. These solos can stand alone without the need of the whole ballet for context.
Learning variations is a very special way to learn about the history of ballet through the act of practicing these dances, with their unique stylizations and characters, while also serving as a great opportunity to simply dive into more ballet choreography.
*Please keep in mind that this class is different from most of our other classes in that students are not guaranteed to perform in the recital. However, they may perform at other events such as Festival of Trees and for the public schools! This class is meant for dedicated advanced students and most variations will be performed en pointe.
ATTIRE
Should wear any color leotard with tights or form fitting longer shirt with leggings, and genre appropriate shoes. Hair pulled back and out of face.
